I read basically everything I see, and like to consume a few books a week as part of a staple diet. My all-time favourites, however, are:
- the Obernewtyn Chronicles, by Isobelle Carmody;
- the Discworld series, by Terry Pratchett;
- the Dragonriders of Pern series, by Anne McCaffery; and
- Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid, by Douglas Hofstadter.
In general, I like classic SF and fantasy. I’ve been known to read books by Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Larry Niven, A.E. Van Vogt, E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Eliezer Yudkowsky, George Orwell Robert Jordan, Frank Herbert, Isobelle Carmody, J.K. Rowling, and others.
Nowadays, I mostly read non-fiction, though, usually scientific or technical materials, or scientific journals.
